Police Helicopter Tracks Mercedes G-Wagon Carjackers

Car thefts are becoming downright common in some cities, which is a scary realization to make. What’s even worse is having a gun shoved in your face while a thief demands your car keys. That’s essentially what happened to a man who met up with what he thought was someone interested in buying his Mercedes G-Wagon.
Watch out for bump-and-run carjackings.
The armed carjacking, which went down in Mississauga, Canada, was met with immediate action by police. Officers were able to stop a Ford F-150 that transported the suspects to the feigned vehicle purchase meetup and took the people inside it into custody.
However, the carjacker in the G-Wagon wasn’t going to give up easily. He rammed into a police car and took off. With plenty of power and tough construction, the Mercedes can be a tough vehicle to stop. Thankfully a police helicopter was overhead to track the luxury SUV’s movements.
Eventually, the guy dumped the G-Wagon and took off on foot. Unfortunately, from there he carjacked some other people, taking their Honda Odyssey minivan. Like we said, carjackings have become almost common in some areas, so if you haven’t thought about what you would do in such a situation you better figure that out before it happens.
Two people were arrested and cited for various offenses. Police say they anticipate making more arrests in the near future.
While not a perfect outcome, this video obviously was released to show the public that police in the Greater Toronto Area are taking vehicle thefts, including carjackings, seriously. It might also be a warning to criminals, although we doubt they’ll listen.
We hope with these types of tools at their disposal police are able to catch more car thieves. And that prosecutors and judges will press for the stiffest consequences possible.
