Ferrari have launched their 2024 challenger as they prepare to hunt down reigning world champions Red Bull. Fred Vasseur's outfit have overhauled the design philosophy as they chase drastic performance gains this season.

Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will be sporting a refreshed but familiar design in 2024 with the headline feature of the new livery being the white and yellow stripes that intersect the side-pod and the nose.

The SF-24 launch comes amid a dramatic off-season for the legendary Italian constructor. Not only did poster boy Leclerc put pen to paper on a long-term contract renewal, but the team have also completed the jaw-dropping signing of Lewis Hamilton for the 2025 campaign and beyond.

However, with Hamilton coming in at the end of the year and Sainz's long-term future at Ferrari now out of the question, team principal Vasseur will have multiple storylines to manage as the Scuderia target a return to World Championship contention.

In order to have a shot at catching 2023's runaway world champions Red Bull before the current technical regulation period ends in two years, Ferrari have taken a drastic change of direction with their design of the 2024 car.

Speaking about the radical new design of the SF-24, technical director Enrico Cardile explained: "With the SF-24 we wanted to create a completely new platform and in fact, every area of the car has been redesigned, even if our starting point was the development direction we adopted last year."

Team principal Vasseur has also touched on the major changes made with the new machinery, stating: “Revolution – I don’t know if it is the right word because we have the same regulation now three years in a row that you can’t change massively the situation.

“Again, it’s a matter of tenths of seconds. It means it’s all 0.1 or 0.2 per cent performance that we are looking for. It’s not five [per cent]. For sure, we have to do a step. I don’t underestimate the step. We are changing 95 per cent of the components of the car. Perhaps you can consider that it’s a revolution.”

Sainz will later put the SF-24 through its paces in a shakedown session before the car hits the track for the first timed session of the 2024 F1 season at pre-season testing in Bahrain.
